From language and lifestyle to art, rituals, and craftsmanship, every exhibit reflects the spirit and resilience of the Tharu people. The museum serves as both a cultural archive and a living learning center, preserving generations of knowledge while inspiring future ones.
The Tharu Cultural Museum, established on Magh 13, 2075 B.S. (January 27, 2019), is located in Chakhaura, Dang. It stands as a proud symbol of indigenous identity and heritage. Founded with the mission to protect and revive the unique traditions of the Tharu community, the museum offers an immersive journey into one of Nepal’s oldest and most vibrant cultures.
We offer a variety of internship and volunteer programs for students and researchers interested in indigenous culture and history.
Support our mission to preserve Tharu heritage. Your donation helps us maintain the museum, organize events, and educate future generations.
