Maywa is a sacred miniature temple built near or within Tharu homes to offer prayers to household gods and ancestral spirits. Often constructed with clay or wood, it serves as a spiritual anchor for the family.

The Maywa embodies the deep spiritual roots of the Tharu community. It has been an enduring feature of their domestic religious practice, passed from one generation to the next as a symbol of protection and devotion.
